Travel safety

Your safety is our priority and we take every reasonable step to make sure the travel we provide is as safe and as trouble-free as we are able to make it. First, we would like to stress that all our suppliers meet their own local and national safety standards as a minimum requirement for working with us. We also encourage our suppliers to maintain and to improve those standards wherever that is needed.

When you travel with Dream Route

We want you to build your own Dream Route, out of the relationships, the moments and the images that stay with you for good. With that in mind, we would remind you that when you travel you need to be more careful than you are at home. Part of the pleasure of travelling is experiencing a different way of life and a different culture, but it can also mean meeting standards of safety and hygiene other than the ones you are used to. So use your common sense and follow any safety advice the organisers give you. We will keep working with our suppliers to make sure your trip is safe and trouble-free, but we ask you to take care while you are travelling.

Some important safety advice

  • We recommend looking up any specific health advice for the country you are travelling to, either through your own doctor or through this website: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel
  • Keep your passport safe, and carry a photocopy of it just in case
  • Pay attention to and follow any flight safety information given by the cabin crew
  • On long flights, drink plenty of water and do simple exercises, or move around the cabin from time to time
  • In vehicles, always wear a seatbelt where one is fitted
  • Stay seated on the coach at all times while the vehicle is moving
  • Traffic in some countries runs on the opposite side of the road from the one you are used to, so make sure you look both ways before you cross. In some countries vehicles also do not stop automatically at pedestrian crossings
  • To avoid an upset stomach, make sure food has been thoroughly cooked. Avoid any uncooked food apart from fruit and vegetables, and in countries where the water is not drinkable, drink only bottled water, having checked that the seal was intact when you bought it
  • Avoid walking in poorly lit places, stay away from situations where you do not feel comfortable, and do not carry large amounts of cash
  • Make sure you have proper protection for your skin type with a high-factor sunscreen, drink plenty of water, and if you see any sign of burning, cover up and get out of the sun straight away
  • Make sure you have the right insurance for your trip, and that it covers any activity you intend to do
  • When you take part in activities that we do not provide, make sure they carry liability insurance and have good safety standards (diving, for example)

Follow the instructions given by the trip's guide, leader, local representative or tour guide.
